New Iron Man 3 Trailer Shows an Army of Iron Men

This is yet another third dark chapter in which the hero falls, only to rise again in order to save those in need. But it appears Tony will be rising in fashion, bringing his posse of older generation of Iron Men armors (he goes through armors quicker than most of us go through smart phones) and working in tandem with Rhodey, his patriotic better half.

In previous trailers, it looked like the Mandarin was able to control his other suits in order to destroy him. I’m assuming the fight was one-sided and the suits that were used to go after Tony weren’t too damaged and were salvaged by Tony himself somewhere down the line. I’m assuming there’s no one in these Iron Men armors because it’d be a pain to train a squad of men on how to pilot them, plus it wouldn’t take Tony too long to reverse engineer whatever technology the Mandarin used to control them to control them remotely himself via Jarvis.

Here’s the trailer by the way.

Those last few seconds are interesting. There had been rumors before that the film will include the infamous Hulkbuster armor (an armor that Tony created in order to combat the Hulk), but I believe we’re finally seeing them for the first time in a trailer. I wonder how Bruce Banner would react to that armor, now that they’re science buddies?

That is- if he’s in this movie at all.

Kevin Feige and Marvel had a closed screening for press people recently, where they showed fifteen minutes of footage from the upcoming film. The one thing that a lot of the reporters seemed to have taken away from the experience is the fact that this film is the natural successor to both The Avengers and Iron Man 2. They seem to provide enough context to tell us why Tony wouldn’t immediately dial up his other super hero buddies after the incident in New York and why he’d prefer to be alone. That sounds good to me since this is a solo film and Tony Stark isn’t the type to openly ask for others’ counsels on personal matters. So we shouldn’t expect much (if any) cameos from the other Avengers.

Iron Man 3 comes out on May 3rd.
