New Glasgow Music Festival at the Green

Go West this May

Music and food lovers can add some dates to their diary this coming May bank holiday for a music festival with food, theatre and comedy. Not since the days of MayFest, which ran from 1983 - 1997 has Mrs Foodie looked so much forward to the month of May!

Beyond Events, the folks behind Loopallu in Ullapool and Aviemore Stopovers have joined up with WEST Brewery to create a new city centre music festival which will take place in Glasgow across the May Bank Holiday weekend on Saturday 27th and Sunday 28th May.

Music: eight acts confirmed

This boutique festival with just a 3,000 capacity, looks like a chilled out event. Music will be provided on Saturday by The Stranglers, who are celebrating their 40th anniversary (How to make me feel old!); Public Service Broadcasting; Ward Thomas; Turin Breaks; Dreadzone and more...check them out here:

Food & drink

As well as fabulous entertainment, there's food, provided by WEST on the green, The Kelbourne Saint and The Crafty Pig and beer courtesy of WEST Brewery!

Commenting on today's announcement, Robert Hicks, Co-founder of May West said,
"It's been a long time dream to bring an event to Glasgow Green, and what better way to do it than in partnership with the wonderful people at West Brewery. We're aiming to create a new, affordable fixture on Glasgow's calendar where everyone can join together to celebrate great music and entertainment."

Petra Wetzel, founder of WEST Brewery and Co-founder of May West added,
"When I was a student in the 90s, Mayfest in Glasgow was a highlight of my year, but sadly it always happened when I was studying so I missed lots of the fun. In 2017, WEST has team up with Beyond to celebrate all that is good about music, food and of course of our great beers. May West is an homage to those Mayfest days, a celebration of Glasgow Green and the opportunity to enjoy a really happy weekend. Like with all our WEST venues, families are most welcome so do come join us and listen to some amazing bands with your children, grannies and friends."
