Last year I reviewed the Milka with TUC Crackers and LU Cookies bars, and rather enjoyed them. Since Mondelez are now bringing most of their Milka variations to the UK under the Dairy Milk brand (Oreo, D'aim, etc) it didn't surprise me much when they announced the launch of these.
Unlike the Milka versions these only come in small 35g bars, each containing 4 squares of Dairy Milk embedded with either LU biscuits or Ritz crackers. Presumably Mondelez went for Ritz rather than TUC crackers as they're more popular in the UK.
Dairy Milk with Ritz Crackers:
Dairy Milk Ritz
Described as "Milk chocolate with 8 salted crackers", this 4-square bar contains a mini Ritz cracker on both sides of each square. The chocolate is pure Dairy Milk so of course it tastes delicious and creamy - I'm sure I needn't describe it! Combined with the Ritz crackers it creates a moreish synergy - savoury, salty, creamy and sweet all rolled into one. It works perhaps even better than Milka with TUC Crackers as the Dairy Milk is creamier and somehow balances out the overall flavor. This is a very moreish bar indeed, it's just a shame it's so small!Dairy Milk Ritz
RATING: 8 out of 10.Dairy Milk with LU Sweet Biscuits:
Dairy Milk LU
Described as "Milk chocolate with 8 biscuits", this is perhaps the safer option of the two as it contains mini sweet LU biscuits - no salt here! They work better with the chocolate than the Ritz crackers and give a malty, vanilla-hinted flavor which is very delicious. This bar reminded me a little of Dairy Milk with Shortcake Biscuit that was available many years ago, and if you were a fan of that bar you'll surely enjoy this!Dairy Milk LU
RATING: 8 out of 10.Overall, these are two delicious bars that no doubt many people will enjoy. They're as good, if not better than the Milka versions, but will they catch on with the Great British Public? That's the real question, and I'll be very interested to see how long they stick around.
If you've tried these please let me know your thoughts in the comments! Also I'd love to hear from anyone who's tried the Milka versions - how do you think these compare?
