Are you kidding me?

This is not only a great book for realizing you’re not alone on the planet when it comes to crazy moms, but it makes a great Mother’s Day gift! Mother’s Day gifts are always best when they poke a little fun, aren’t they? You can only buy her that “Senior Citizen Crossing” bumper sticker and that Snuggy so many times.

Go buy a few (one for you, grandma, mom, one for the mother-in-law…). I’ll wait.

Ok, you’re back! So… wondering how all these amazing people came together in one book?

The idea for Moms are Nuts hit me when I was in Charleston, South Carolina on vacation, eating some crazy sandwich and talking to my husband Mike about one of our mothers.  I’m not sure which mother.  It doesn’t matter, because the conversation ended with me saying…

“Moms are nuts.”

…which works for either one.

Why are moms nuts?? Take this conversation between Mike and his mother:

Mike: Ma, the plane gets there at 3.
Mary, my mother-in-law: Ok I made pasta!
Mike: Amy doesn’t like sauce. She just likes it with butter and cheese.
Mary: Oh.. ok, I’ll make a pink sauce, too!
Mike: Ma, she doesn’t like sauce. Just butter and cheese.
Mary: Ok. I’ll make a white sauce! I know how to do that!
Mike: MA SHE DOESN’T WANT SAUCE! NO SAUCE!
Mary: Well I’ll just make a little of each sauce then…

That day in Charleston it hit me, either because we were into our second bottle of wine or despite it, that “Moms are Nuts” would make a great title for a collection of stories.   I made a mental note to write it one day.

A week later I remembered that moment, and realized I didn’t have enough mom stories to fill a book.  On a whim, I sent an email to two of my favorite Twitter funny people asking them if they’d be interested in submitting a story about their mothers to a collection.

They said yes.

Holy hell.

Wendi Aarons and Gloria Fallon are humor titans, so finding other impressive funny people to write alongside them instantly became much easier.

The result is this book, filled with hilarious, touching, strange and wonderful stories about the mother figures in our lives.   If you enjoy reading these tales half as much as I enjoyed gathering them, Moms are Nuts is going to shoot right to your top ten favorite books of all time.  Take that, Jane Austen.

If you’re still on the fence, go check out the book’s web site where you’ll find bios of all the writers as well as a blooper reel from the peanut photo shoot!

And PLEASE PLEASE PLEASE – if you enjoy the book (and I guarantee you will) leave us a good review on Amazon! THANK YOU!
