As one of the rooms which typically adds value to your home, you should ensure that you carefully plan your bathroom, whether building a new home or renovating your existing suite. There are of course lots of trends which you can follow but some of these will quickly become dated and potentially have an impact on the overall value of your home.
One particular trend for 2014 is a bathroom with a “living wall”, this is typically some type of foliage growing on the feature wall and although these do look breathtaking if installed and managed correctly they may include a significant amount of maintenance compared to the traditional potted bathroom plants.
In previous years we have seen many bathrooms take up the simple yet effective large beige wall and floor tile trends and this is still commonplace in many new build home developments, however the bathroom color palette is moving on. Monochrome and bold statements are the focus this season. Black, gray and variations of can instantly create a clean statement in a bathroom, this paired with carefully planned lighting options and a clash of a white clean lined bathroom suite give the ultra modern look many of us are looking for in a new home. If you’re looking for the glamourous hotel bathroom look it can generally be achieved with inspiration from the monochrome color scheme.
Mosaics are always a popular bathroom trend, updating each season with a new color palette. The issue that commonly arises is the speed at which these particular trends date and you need to consider this when planning. Keeping it simple, tying in with the monochrome trend or using it purely as an accent or accessory to the room against a simple suite may help you here.
