I recently put a group of new abstract paintings on my art website, ARTBYLT.COM. I try to do this regularly after finishing a number of related images. When I'm painting very large canvases, it takes me longer and I may only have four to six to put on the website. This summer I've been working on small paintings from 20" x 20" to 24" x 24" so I have a larger group to put up.
There were two themes in this new group of paintings: in one, I was focused on having large areas of white, or negative space. I blended other colors into the white as I worked, but I was very conscious of making room for white.
In the second theme, I was working in an impressionist pointillist style, painting with small brushstrokes placed near each other to create the final image. Each of these paintings has a central globe shape that fills the canvas.
