Never Surrender by Corey Hart.

First entry of the new year! And let me start off by saying – Corey Hart is one gorgeous man! I don’t know if it’s the vulnerability in his videos, his deep gaze, his famous pout…whatever it is, he definitely belongs on a list for the best looking guys of the 80′s. I happened to see his video today on VH1 Classic for One Hit Wonders and thought this song would be a good start for 2012.

Never Surrender was released in 1985 from his second album, Boy in the Box. At the time of the release he was only 23 years old – the same age as me, go figure! It became a #1 single in Canada for nine weeks and was also his highest charting single in the United States, reaching #3 on Billboard’s Hot 100. He also won the Juno award for single of the year.

The song is about never giving up, no matter how difficult life can get. It’s stresses the importance of giving things a little more time so you can work them out.

So if you’re lost and on your own, you can never surrender. And if your path won’t lead you home, you can never surrender…
