The Nest Audio Smart Speaker, widely leaked and even Spotted in stores last weekwas announced in the company on Wednesday Launch Night In Event. It's the successor to Google Home's smart speaker, the very first speaker the search giant launched in 2016.

Here's a quick rundown of what we learned today:

  • Price at $ 100 (£ 90, AU $ 149)
  • Five colors: chalk, charcoal, sand, sky, and sage
  • Designed with 70% sustainable materials
  • 19 mm tweeter for high frequency coverage and clear vocals
  • 75mm midwoofer for better bass

According to Google, Nest Audio is 75% louder and has 50% more bass than the original Google Home.

When it comes to features, the Nest Audio keeps up with the latest Google updates like Multiroom audio in real time, Voice call with Google Duo and stream transmission to move sound from speaker to speaker using voice commands.

Aside from a new design and improved sound, as far as we can tell today, there aren't any particular tricks up the Nest Audio's sleeve.

Google first revealed the google homepage as a rival to Amazon Echo device. Since then, the company has expanded and renamed the line under the name Nest, which the smart home device maker Google bought in 2014.

The smaller one Nest Mini competes with Amazon Echo Dot, the Homepage max matches the size and price Apple HomePod, and Google's Nest Hub Smart display takes over Amazon Echo Show. We are now ready for a new duel between the redesigned echo speaker announced last week and the Nest Audio.

Google is advised to update their default smart speaker, especially since Amazon has done the exact same thing. The $ 100 (£ 90, AU $ 149) price tag makes it affordable, and we'll likely see deals and sales similar to smart speakers of the past. Nest Audio will be available in 21 countries starting October 5th.

When it comes to smart speakers, Amazon still dominates the market. By the end of the year, the e-commerce giant's Echo devices will own nearly 70% of the global smart speaker market. According to eMarketer estimates, Google's smart speakers will hold almost 32%. (It adds up to more than 100% as some people have more than one brand of smart speakers.)
