NBA Registers Two More ENS Domains and Files Four Non-fungible Trademarks

The NBA, or National Basketball Association, has filed for a more non-fungible token (NFT) trademarks. On Thursday, April 7, the league is thought to have applied for NFT patents. It wasn’t made public until Monday, April 11.

It looks like the NBA has registered a second Ethereum Name Service (ENS) domain, which gives them control over the “nba. eth” and “theassociationnft. eth” domains. She is the vice president of the league’s global partnerships and media. Adrienne O’Keeffe is said to have found the ENS in her purse. She’s also the head of the NBA’s games and digital assets.

The NBA is expected to launch its crypto assets sooner than expected because of these fresh registrants. The league’s NFT growth plans are moving closer to Web 3 as a result of this move.

Based on the facts in the dossier, the league prepared the submission for “The Association.” A wide range of virtual goods, including game programs, tickets to games, collectibles like trading cards and jerseys, NBA memes licensed by the NFT, and more, are included.

The “nba. eth” domain had previously been transferred from NFT collector “disco. eth” to ENS member Brantly Millegan, and then in December to O’Keeffe’s wallet “aok.eth.” Earlier this month, it was revealed that the NBA’s general manager’s wallet included the cryptocurrency “theassociationnft.eth.”

There was no explanation given for the second ENS player’s departure, and neither the NBA nor O’Keeffe would comment. The league’s most recent trademark applications are reported to be a first step toward building its own proprietary NFTs and expanding into the metaverse.

Josh Gerben, a trademark lawyer, was among the first to publish the NBA’s recent NFT patent application. On April 6, the American Basketball League filed a trademark application with the US Patent and Trademark Office for the term “THE ASSOCIATION,” he tweeted early Tuesday morning (USPTO).
