PML-N chief Muhammad Nawaz Sharif, who is inline to become country’s prime ministry for the third time, on Friday expressed serious concern and deep regret over the recent US drone strike in Pakistani territory.
He said that the drone attack was not only the violation of territorial integrity and sovereignty of Pakistan, but such actions have also been declared the as the violation of United Nation’s Charter.
At least four people including the prominent Tehreek-i-Taliban (TTP) leader Wali-ur-Rehman were killed in the US drone strike in the North Waziristan on Wednesday. It was the first drone strike after May 11 polls wherein PML-N emerged as the strongest political party in the country.
Nawaz Sharif, in his message said the drone attack in Pakistan’s territory within days of President Obama’s “crossroads” speech was highly regrettable.
The PML-N chief stressed the need of meaningful consultations and close cooperation between the two countries and said that the one-sided measures should be avoided.
Shehbaz Sharif, who is set to become Punjab’s chief minister for the third time, also condemned the US drone strikes.
