Nasoya Apple Hand Pies with a Cinnamon and Sugar Crunch

By Krimkus

This month is all about comfort food makeovers, and apple pie has to be on the menu.

Nasoya had perfect timing for this comfort food calorie cleanup when they sent me an offer to review their products, which just happened to include egg roll wrappers – perfect for apple hand pies.

I’ve been using Nasoya’s egg roll and won ton wrappers for years. In fact, over the holidays I made these Mexican Bean and Salsa Won Ton Cups, and captured the attention of this company I’ve been a fan of since back in my weight loss days when I would make baked egg rolls.

But today, I’m making over apple pie, and using Nasoya egg roll wrappers instead of calorie laden pie crust.

A typical serving of pie crust weighs in at approximately 100 calories, 6 grams of fat, and 12 carbs. A serving of Nasoya Egg Roll Wraps contains 66 calories, .2 grams of fat, and 12 carbs.

There’s definitely a calorie and fat savings there!

Here I am with my wraps ready to go, along with sugar, cinnamon, and apples I’ve nuked in the microwave to a tender sweetness. (Sorry, the apples are a bit hard to see hiding there in the bowl!)

But calorie savings wouldn’t matter much if these apple hand pies didn’t taste good, right?

No worries there, as you can see, when they come out of the oven they are baked to a golden perfection, and the apples and cinnamon are just as fragrant as your grandma’s famous apple pie.

I think what I love best about this twist on apple pie, is that it’s kid friendly.

The wrappers are easy to work with, so your kids can fill them, fold them, and bake them all by themselves (with a bit of mom or dad supervision, of course).

If you’re looking for a sweet treat for Valentine’s Day, break out the Nasoya Won Ton Wraps. All you need is a bowl of strawberries, a cupcake tin, wrappers and whipped cream to make this colorful, low calorie dessert.

Here’s a big thank you to Nasoya for sharing their terrific products with me, so I can share them with you!

Enjoy your apple hand pies!
