Nashville Got Cancelled (Again)

It doesn’t appear the streets of Nashville can live without Rayna James because it’s going to the grave (SPOILER ALERT!) just like her!

TV Line reports the show’s upcoming sixth season will be the last, and my mother isn’t happy. She only watches this and Dancing With The Stars! Ever since Connie Britton/Rayna’s plot line turned to pushing daisies after the show moved to CMT, the whole thing seemed a little random. The chairman of Lionsgate Television Group seems to agree:

“After more than 120 episodes of unforgettable television, we believe that creatively it is time for the series to come to its triumphant close at the end of the upcoming season… Most importantly, we owe a special debt of thanks to the Nashville fans who propelled the series to an incredible run. We owe it to them to make the sixth season the most exciting and memorable of all.”

This is actually the second time Nashville bit the dust. ABC cancelled it back in 2016 before CMT picked it up a month later. They’ll apparently be able to wrap the show storylines up, but what about the actual Nashville?! Every bachelorette party in America now heads to Music City for a weekend of getting blowouts, drinking vodka sodas, and rushing the stage at Tootsie’s to pretend to be Rayna before winding up at Arby’s sobbing into a roast beef bemoaning the death of single life. Where will they go once the show is over?? It’s not exactly sexy to go to Seattle and have a Grey’s Anatomy-themed ladies weekend in surgical scrubs.
