Mysterious Group the Acid Has a Great Ep [stream]

Tracking down L.A-based group, The Acid, online was a hard thing to do. As you might expect, Google searching the “the acid” was not very fruitful. After hearing the production quality of their great, new self-titled EP on SoundCloud, though, I was expecting to stumble upon a well-known band that I was simply unaware of. Turns out, I was right and wrong. The band built up an aura of anonymity around themselves in their fledgling stages, and it wasn’t until the recent release of the music video for the single, “Basic Instinct”, that they freed their band roster to the world. The group consists of Australian singer/songwriter/guitarist RY X, electronic artist Steve Nalepa and British dance producer DJ Adam Freeland.

Regardless of the group’s track record, or lack thereof, this new EP is something you’re going to want to be aware of. It’s minimalist synth production and RY X’s haunting vocals are reminiscent of a more austere The XX mixed together with a less austere James Blake. It’s definitely worth a listen, and you can do so above.
