Mylets – ‘Arizona’ Single Stream

Posted on the 18 March 2015 by Spectralnights

Part of the Sargent House family – surely one of the most exciting record labels around – and ahead of an extensive tour supporting And So I Watch You From Afar, Columbus native Mylets (known as Henry Kohen to family and friends) has made the track ‘Arizona’ available for streaming ahead of the release of his debut album of the same name.

Opening with mathy Battles-esque riffs, he quickly sings: ‘I don’t know you’ while Porcelain Raft-style echoes, effects and more swirl around his vocals. Despite the hypnotic nature and wide-ranging soundscape, there’s also a keen eye on more accessible hooks giving the track an atmosphere that feels somewhere between East India Youth and Maps. As ‘Arizona’ builds in dramatic fashion, the vocals become more fraught and have a touch of Conor Oberst when he’s fronting Desaparecidos – before easing back into that hypnotic opening guitar line that was so intriguing to begin with.

If this song is anything to go by, Sargent House have another fine addition – and we’re expecting the full record to be even more experimental, interesting and inspirational.
