My Upcoming Travel Plans, Changing My Life Again

Posted on the 17 September 2013 by Giuliaccia

11 months. I can’t believe I’ve been in Italy for so long. I seriously can’t believe it and I don’t know how I allowed myself to spend so many days of pure apathy and boredom in a row. Sounds too harsh? Believe me, it was not even nearly as harsh as it sounds here. But I talked about my struggles in my previous post already, and this is supposed to be a happy post, well, at least a positive one. So here I am with my many upcoming travel plans!

About two weeks ago, I suddenly felt the urge to go somewhere. Anywhere. So I decided to make a sort of test and go somewhere close, easy to reach and where I wouldn’t feel under pressure to see too many things. So I picked a place in the Italian Alps where I used to work years ago, and went there. The test went very well. I came back with a huge smile on my face and much more relaxed.

Relax at Rifugio Torino, 3375 meters of altitude.

Now I still don’t feel like going to any extreme trip like crossing the Gobi desert on a horse, but I know that I need to start traveling again, and hopefully I will forget about all the boredom and apathy, and leave my harsh days behind.

So here we go – plans – excited!

September – Morocco

I am going to Morocco. I can’t say much more than this, because I am leaving in a few days (next Sunday) but I still have zero plans. What I know is that I am landing in Casablanca and I don’t even have a reservation for the night yet. Then, I will have some 10 days to spend in the country. I was supposed to go with someone (remember the broken heart?) that was also in charge of the itinerary, but turns out I am going on my own so I found myself without a plan. If you feel like it, please share your tips! Super appreciated.

I got myself a new passport the other day, will get new stamps soon!

October – Iceland

Yes, I am going back to Iceland! And yes, this is so cool. This time I will be with my mother. Between you and me, I think she got jealous when she saw my photos of the Northern Lights! She decided to go and wanted me to do all the planning and “show her around”. Okay mom, let’s go! So we are having a full tour of the island (for what is possible in the winter) together and I can’t wait.

Last time I went I had a great time and fell in love with the place (who doesn’t?). This time I will stay longer and will see much more, plus I will see the great people I met there again and this is so heartwarming.

I hope to get to see more of this!

November – Honduras

I accepted a job in Honduras, on a well known touristic island called Roatan.

I’ve been there before in 2007, I kept in touch with some people, and I’ve always been offered jobs ever since. I always declined, because Egypt was always my priority, but this time I accepted. Egypt is still a special place for me but now I need something different, a place where I don’t have to think about safety, curfew, demonstrations, etc so the Caribbean sounds just perfect to me.

I think I will write a whole post on this topic – why I am not going back to Egypt, at least for now – because I have a lot to say about it.

I will be working in a diving (see my profile on the website!) as a customer service representative, taking reservations for amazing excursions and showing people around.

Snorkeling 2 hours a day will be one of my duties. It’s a hard world!

But seriously, I know I will have a lot of work to do and it won’t be easy… but I think I need this now: something new and beautiful, and not too much time to think.

Back in 2007 in Roatan I sat at the Guest Relations desk – I was just kidding here… but now it will be for real!

Me in Roatan, my first ever snorkeling experience

At the moment I am looking for flights – they are so expensive! – but I am planning to leave in mid November so I have time. Maybe I will find some good late deals. According to plans, I will come back on May 2014 – hopefully with a huge smile on my face.
