After seeing The Belle Lumiere's My Top 10 Makeup Products post , I put some serious consideration into my own Top 10 (energy that I should have been directing to more mundane tasks, such as cleaning my house for my inspection on Thursday). My Top 10 Makeup Products aren't necessarily my most-used products (for example, my foundation didn't make the cut, but I use it every day), but rather the ones that I still get a little kick out of using each and every time.
My Top 10 Makeup Products, in no particular order:
1. Chanel Joues Contraste Powder Blush in 82 Reflex
The first time I laid eyes on this blush, it was on the cheeks of a Chanel sales assistant with a peaches-and-cream complexion to die for. I asked her what blush she was wearing, and I've been hooked ever since. If my flat was burning to the ground, the first thing I would rescue would be this blush. It is everything I want and need in my life.
2. MAC Matte2 Eye Shadow in Blanc Type. This is my go-to neutral eyeshadow (on NC15 skin). It is buttery, long-wearing and just so darn versatile.
3. Fyrinnae Loose Eyeshadow in OMGWTF. This loose eyeshadow is the most divine shimmery chartreuse. I very rarely use it as an all-over colour, but I love it used wet as eyeliner on my lower lash line for a pop of colour.
4. Bourjois Metallise Metallic Eyeliner in 52 Brun Inoxydable. You may notice in the top photograph that I've put a soft rubber grip on this eyeliner in order to prevent me from getting a repetitive strain injury due to how often I use it. This is my go-to metallic bronze pencil eyeliner that applies like a dream but then stays put.
5. MAC Mineralize Skinfinish in Soft and Gentle. This highlighter is a godsend for days when my skin looks dull and tired (which is pretty regularly at the moment because I've got a nasty cold). When I sweep this over my cheekbones, it's like I've instantly had a really fabulous nap.
6. Jurlique Silk Finishing Powder in Citrus. This is one product that I do use daily. It is a great translucent setting powder for your foundation, but I tend to use it to soak up any mid-day oil slicks. It helps keep my skin matte for ages but never, ever looks cakey. The smell is bliss as well.
7. Estee Lauder Pure Color Crystal Lipstick in 301 Crystal Baby. I just got excited about swatching this lipstick because it meant I got to smell it - I could honestly huff on Estee Lauder lipsticks for hours. Crystal Baby is my 'My Lips But Better' lipstick, a pretty, natural, nude-tinged pink. This lipstick has been in heavy rotation for a very long time now, and I still love it.
8. Estee Lauder Double Wear Stay-in-Place Concealer in 01 Light. This is my current everyday concealer for my dark under-eye area. It is a full coverage, liquid concealer, that sets to a powder finish. It would last through a zombie attack.
9. Clinique High Impact Curling Mascara in 01 Black. Paradoxically, I already have really curly eyelashes to the point of being annoying, as they sometimes touch back onto my brow bone when still wet with mascara. I buy this because it is a 'tubing' mascara, which means it can be easily removed in 'tubes' with warm water. It also never smudges or flakes. I find that even though it is marketed as a curling formula, it is very volumizing.
10. Becca Eye Tint in Baroque. A recent addition to my makeup routine, I've already swatched this one here . I'm loving this liquid eyeshadow as a base for other eyeshadows or alone for a slightly sparkling nude eye.
So that's my Top 10 Makeup Products. I don't know that it's a very cohesive list but it's true to my heart. What would be in your Top 10?
