My One Little Word

By Lisaorchard @lisaorchard1

Hello everyone, I hope all is well with you. I’m back today after a week of work, running and writing. I have a new idea for a story that I’ve started fleshing out. I’m excited about this one, just like I am about all the other ones. LOL But enough about that.

Today, I want to talk about my one little word. Every year I pick a word that is the theme for the year. This year I pick Peace.

Just a five-letter word that means so much, don’t you think?

That means if a situation doesn’t bring me Peace, I’m going to disengage from it. I’ve learned that sometimes the best way to find Peace is to not respond. To disengage from the situation. Sometimes that’s hard. Sometimes we hold onto people or situations that are no longer good for us because they’re a habit, or because they’ve been in our lives for so long.

If the relationship or situation doesn’t bring us Peace, we need to change something. Maybe we just need to change our expectations or our perspective. Maybe we need to reevaluate the situation. If it doesn’t bring me Peace, I’m going to let it go.

That doesn’t mean that I don’t care about the other person or the situation. It just means I recognize that there is nothing I can do about it, the issue lies with them, and me trying to force a relationship or growth doesn’t work because they need to make the decision to change or grow themselves.

We have a limited amount of time on earth. I’m feeling this while I watch many of my friends deal with health issues, and the loss of mobility due to illnesses. Growing old isn’t for sissies that’s for sure.

So with the limited amount of time I have on earth, my plan for it is to spend it peacefully. How about you? How do you want to spend your time? Leave a comment, I’d love to hear from you!
