For one, I haven't been watching a lot of movies lately due to my financial situation and time constraints and my mind being more geared toward cartoons (Steven Universe, most recently) than films. Mostly because the real world is so all-around horrifying these days that it's hard to find escape in serious cinema. I never thought that I of all people would say that, but things and people change.
For another, I've been writing a lot of history-based content for The Avocado, an entertainment site spawned from The AV Club's decline into Kinja chaos. Among other contributions, I maintain a feature called How We Got Here which analyzes American politics through the lens of past events, from the Alien and Sedition Acts through Watergate and more obscure events and figures like Victoria Woodhull and the American Protective League. For another, I've recently begun writing another novel. My past attempts at fiction writing have been quixotic at best, but this one has an actual, coherent narrative and enough content (110,000 words and counting!) to reach novel length. It won't be the bestselling Pulitzer winner for 2019, but it will be a concrete accomplishment after years of semi-anonymous typing on the Internet. Hopefully I'll have more to announce soon.
Will Nothing is Written return, if only as a side project rather than my major focus? I hope so. But I'm not making any guarantees. My life is in flux right now (really, it's been for awhile) and it remains unclear how long it will stay that way. Once things straighten out and I can commit
