My Goals For 101 Books In 2014

By Robert Bruce @robertbruce76

What’s in store for 101 Books in 2014?

I honestly don’t know. But here’s my best guess.

As I begin 2014, I’m about to pass the two-thirds mark. With The Day of the Locust as my 66th book, that means I’m approaching the home stretch.

I definitely won’t wrap up this project in 2014, but I think I’ll be somewhere around book 85 at the end of the year. So that’s my first goal–simply reaching book 85 by the end of 2014.

Next, I believe I’ll finally tackle The Lord of the Rings this year. It’s the longest book remaining on the list. And, yes, it only counts as one book since that’s the way Tolkien wrote it. The Fellowship of the Ring, The Two Towers, and The Return of the King were all books within the main book.

The good news here is that I have an endless supply of blog posts with The Lord of the Rings. The content nearly writes itself with the movies, the cultish fans, and Tolkien himself. This one should be fun to write about, and I’ll probably tackle it during the summer.

In other news, I hope to have info related to a book in 2014. I’ve said it before, but please cross your fingers, say a prayer, send happy thoughts my way, because I hope this is the year I will at least get confirmation that a book is going to happen. The publication would more than likely be in 2015, but I’m just hoping for a publisher to give me the go ahead this year.

Outside of that, I just plan on keeping this thing moving right along in 2014. I’ve got a pretty good routine going with 101 Books, so don’t anticipate too many changes to the blog or my posting schedule and so on.

So, bottom line, this year I want to get through book 85, finish The Lord of the Rings, and get confirmation on my book. I’ll keep you guys posted on that as I get more information.

Here’s to a great 2014!
