Nostra at My Filmviews has recently decided to start a new blogathon about famous products used in the movies, and how we would use them. Here are my answers to his excellent questions. Be sure to check out the blogathon here:
Which movie would you find in your own Pulp Fiction briefcase? (One which you treasure or is impossible to see because it is not available)
My choice would easily be a Criterion Collection DVD (or blu-ray, if possible) of the incredibly rare but beautiful film A Brighter Summer Day by Edward Yang.
If you had a Back to the Future DeLorean, to which cinema-related time period would you travel?
I would travel back to the late 50s or early 60s to see some of the French New Wave movies by Truffaut and Godard just as they were being released.
If you woke up tomorrow morning and found out you were living your own Groundhog Day and could only escape it by watching all the films from a specific genre, which genre would you choose and why? And which genre would be your personal hell?
Continuing on from my answer to the previous question, I would choose the genre “French New Wave.” And my personal hell genre would be “Teen Sex Comedies.”
You have the Neuralyzer from Men in Black in your pocket. Which movie would you travel into to use it on one of the characters to change the movie in a fun or interesting way and what would happen because of the change you made?
I would use the Neuralyzer on Weronika in The Double Life of Veronique so that she would forget she ever saw Veronique on the bus in the city square. It would only be a tiny change, but it would be a change nevertheless.
If you were able to enter the dreams of a famous movie character like Cobb did in Inception using the dream machine, which character’s dreams would you jump into to get to know that character better and what do you think their dreamworld would look like?
Can I choose a director instead of a character? If so, I would love to get inside the dreams of Luis Bunuel. They would be freaking amazing.
Lacuna Inc, the company from Eternal Sunshine of the Spotless Mind just opened on the corner of your street. Which one movie memory would you delete to experience it for the first time again?
I would erase my first viewing of Werckmeister Harmonies, simply so I can see it for the first time round with a fresh set of eyes, and feel the way it made me feel the first time I saw it.
Right next to Lacuna Inc, another company Rekall from Total Recall has opened as well. Which character in which movie would you like to be to experiene it in first person?
I would love to experience the movie Fanny and Alexander through Alexander’s eyes. It would be amazing!
Those are my answers. Make sure you go and check out the other entries in the blogathon!
