Your favorite children's book and why you like it: I have many, many favourites but one that I really love is "Toby Alone" by Timothée de Fombelle. It is a great, old-fashioned adventure story with all the right ingredients (heroism, friendship, betrayal, love etc) but with a fantastic and very much contemporary ecological message too. The characters are endearing, the pace of the story exciting and it is beautifully illustrated by François Place. Walker Books have done it justice with an amazing British edition and a fantastic translation from Sarah Ardizzone.
Your children's favorite book: I think my children would tell you a different title depending on the day, their mood and what they have read lately! A constant favourite in our house however has always been a French board book which they still absolutely love despite being 6 and 9! It is called "Gare aux guilis" ("Beware of the Tickles") by Ophélie Texier and is basically all about tickling different parts of the body. They still ask for it, and never moan that it is in French. It is probably our most favourite shared read.
I have only discovered Library Mice a few months ago but it is in my regular reading list now. Melanié is a school librarian by profession and a mum of two. She has a particular interest in picture books and teen fiction.
