I love using embossing powder as a resist. You can mist, paint and blend, then wipe off the excess for a lovely look. The embossing powder resists the paints and will still show up beautifully.
I adore this Shabby Music Background Stamp by JustRite Stamps. I inked the stamp with watermark ink and stamped onto the manilla oversized shipping tag. I sprinkled copper embossing powder and gently tapped the excess powder off, then heated it with my heat gun. I allowed it to cool, then began playing with my Tattered Angels Paints.
I love to blend darker shades on the bottom and work my way to lighter colors on the top of the tag. I began with Plain Jane Simply Sheer Teal. I swear this is one of my favorite colors right now. I could swim in it! Then I painted Caspian Sea Glimmer Glam onto the center of the tag and wiped off the excess to let the copper embossed musical notes show through. I die cut Jewel Flowers and Flourishes out of cream card stock and used the die template as a stencil to apply teal fluid chalk ink. I painted Chandelier Glimmer Glam on each flower and curled the petals to create dimension.
I painted Caspian Sea Glimmer Glam onto the ribbon. I love how the glitter shimmers. I painted the top of the tag with Aloha Green Glimmer Glaze and misted the corner with Sun Sisters Glimmer Mist. The copper musical notes look vintage and aged.
