In “She Makes Me Happy,” Rod reflects on happily giving up his former lifestyle. “I must change my ways. No more late nights out with all the boys, pissing my life away…. I could smoke and drink and gamble just as I pleased. Now I’m working out daily and I’m watching my waistline.” In “It’s Over,” Rod looks back on the pain of going through divorce. “All the plans we had together. Up in smoke and gone forever. Poisoned by a lawyer’s letter. It’s over.” But life is good now, as shown in “Beautiful Morning,” when Rod sings, “See the sun coming over them hills. See that hare running through the fields. Bluebirds singing, not a cloud in the sky. Oh my God ain’t it good to be alive.”
Time for a tissue now… Rod Stewart’s new album, Time, is a fascinating look at the times of his life, reflecting the wisdom he’s gained by looking back on both his good and bad experiences, as well as the joy he now finds in his family and his music. Time is a must-have addition to your music collection.
