We would like to confess at the outset that we have a huge liking for musical taste of director Puri Jagannadh and have almost, barring few occasions, liked his albums. We have high expectations and hence disappointment is also bigger like it could be seen in our music review of Cameraman Gangatho Rambabu. For the first time Devi Sree Prasad combines with director Puri Jagannadh and naturally the expectation are sky high. Let us see if the combination has delivered or not.

“Run Run” with its heady mix of rap, fun lyrics and instantly addictive rhythm is a winner right away. Following it is “Violin song” another freshly packaged instantly appealing and vibrant song like the earlier one. Foot tapping, repeatable and instant winners both these numbers. The packaging, interludes, singer choice and catchy lyrics everything seems perfect in these two numbers.

“Top Lechipoddi” and “Ganapati Bappa” are more typical numbers which have a mix of both the director and music director styles. The noisy yet foot tapping beats present in Puri films meets typical Devi Sree Prasad beats. This fusion more inclined towards the Puri style, creates freshness even though everything feels like heard before.

Finally “Shankarabharanam” is neither here nor there type of number. Although it’s fun number in its own way it would need good picturization to take it to next level. “Run Run” remix is just a speeded up version of the original, it’s alright.

Even with the initial high expectations the album in the end manages to satisfy mainly due to the rocking two numbers “Run Run” and “Girl”. The others though not on the same level still manage to be fun numbers making the album a winner.

Our picks: Run Run, Violin Song, Top Lechipoddi
Rating: 3.25/5
