Kairuku Rural, Central Province, Papua New Guinea / November 2013: Compared to the men, the women in the group were less traditional in their attire. While there are very remote villages in Papua New Guinea where men and women still use traditional clothes on a daily basis, these women in Kairuku, being more exposed to modern ways, have adopted western wardrobe and, for the sing-dance performance, painted their faces and added some traditional trinkets to their attire. Nevertheless, I appreciated their singing and dancing and decided that they likewise deserved some close-up shots as they danced.
