In July, the debut album, Strange Desire was released, I have only just got round to listen and I'm impressed, it's an eclectic group of songs which at times lacks direction but experimentation pays off as it toys with energetic pop melodies and shouting choruses, lo-fi moments borrowed from The National as well as r'n'b influences thrown in for kicks. I have no idea how this will work live but I am looking forward to finding out when Bleachers take to the Miller Lite stage on day one of ACL.
As Austin City Limits Festival nears and I plan my schedule I've been researching the bands who don't automatically spring out at me and Bleachers are one of my now 'must sees'. I'd heard the debut single I Wanna Get Better when it first appeared online, I liked it, I knew that this 'project' is fronted by Fun. and Lena Dunham's boyfriend Jack Antonoff but I never really dug any deeper.
