Museum of Love – “Monotronic”

“The waking world was never meant for me / I wasn’t made for so much happiness.”  Pat Mahoney, ex-LCD Soundsystem drummer and James Murphy DJ partner couldn’t sound less excited as he sings these lyrics in his Museum of Love debut track, “Monotronic”.  With a voice that sounds like a mix of David Byrne and Brian Eno, Mahoney plaintively sings over a vintage minimal electronic bed.  There are enough tricks thrown in to keep you interested though as dynamic and harmonic movement is subdued.

Check out two tracks from Brooklyn duo, The Golden Pony, from their Golden Classics below, one of Tears For Fears “Everybody Wants To Rule The World” and another of Simon and Garfunkel’s “The Sound of Silence”.
