Mumford & Sons' New Video Shows Self-Awareness

We’re kind of split on Mumford and Sons here at The Wild Honey Pie — some people are distinctly in the fan camp while others (like me) are very, very much not. Even an avowed Mumford hater like myself, though, has to admit when the kings of anthem-folk do something as great as the video for “Hopeless Wanderer”. The video brilliantly casts Jason Sudeikis, Ed Helms, Will Forte and Jason Bateman as the band and allows them to Country Bear Jamboree the fuck out the song. They have the vests, the beards, the elegantly tussled hair, the hyper earnest singing and the quaint, rustic locations. It’s seriously hilarious, showing that Mumford are totally aware that we’ve been making fun of them, totally don’t care and are actually game to laugh at themselves along with us (except they’re laughing all the way to the bank, while we’re just laughing in our dank Bushwick apartments). Good on you, Mumford and Sons. I like you just a little more now.
