Multiple-launch rocket systems [MLRS], Sonyo’n (children) model, were presented by the Korean Children’s Union [KCU] to the Korean People’s Army [KPA] during a ceremony in Hamhu’ng, South Hamgyo’ng, on June 1 (Wednesday) to mark the 70th anniversary of the KCU’s foundation. Attending the ceremony were Kim Il Sung Youth League and KCU officials, representatives of the South Hamgyo’ng Workers’ Party of Korea [WPK] Provincial Committee and South Hamgyo’ng Provincial People’s Committee, KPA service members and Hamhu’ng citizens and schoolchildren.

Jon Yong Nam, 1st Secretary of the Kim Il Sung Youth League Central Committee delivered a speech which was followed by schoolchildren and a KPA officer. In their speeches, they said that the MLRS “reflect the firm faith and warm patriotism of the schoolchildren across the country to build a socialist power on this land at any cost by carrying forward the cause of the Chuch’e revolution and the cause of the So’ngun (military-first) revolution started in Mt. Paektu under the leadership of Kim Jong Un (Kim Cho’ng-u’n)” and the speakers called upon the presentation ceremony participants to “acquire a wealth of knowledge and firmly train their bodies and minds through hard study, successful organizational life and sports activities and prepare themselves as soldiers of Kim Jong Un, bearing in mind that the warmest patriotism is expressed in defending the country.”

After the speaking program, the MLRS deployed to KPA units “amid the warm send off by schoolchildren and working people.”
