Mt Mysery

By Hikingoz
On a cold clear Friday me and mate Dave walked up Mt Mysery above the place I'm staying in Lucaston in the Huon valley. We headed along up a private road  with permission from the landholder and then headed through scrub south from a saddle below the summit. In total it took us about an hour to reach the peak marked by a large rock. At the summit there is a sign and track to the Huon Bush Retreat. It is not readily clear from this area which parts are state forrest and which private but the different areas are marked on the 1:25,000 Longley topo. Generally I think this walk is not considered to be accesable to the public without permission.
After wandering along the icy track to the retreat for a couple of k's we headed back north to the saddle below the summit. The firetrail  saw us back down to the main road just after dark. This walk is a nice local adventure with reasonable views towards Sleeping Beauty and the surrounding ranges to the North and East as well as South West along the bush retreat track. Overall though as a standalone walk there are other walks out of Geeveston area more worthy of a day trip.
