The TNA MPs involvement in organizing protests and urging the protesters to surround MPs residences sets a bad precedent, UNP MP Ranil Wickremesinghe told Parliament yesterday.
He queried as to what would happen in future if the people protested against them and surrounded their houses as well.
He made these queries in response to a statement made by TNA MP S.Rasamanikkam on Thursday stating that MP Wickremesinghe had a secret pact with Rajapaksas.
He said further that according to the plot, one group of their protestors had planned to protest outside his house at 1st Lane at 9 am on Saturday and urged their protestors to be near the Ladies College. He added that their plan was to bring people from Kolonnawa too.
He said that he had no connection with Rajapaksas, though Rasamanikkam once accepted the Padirippu Organizer position from Mahinda Rajapaksa. He added that the he was not willing to reveal Rasamanikkam’s involvement in the incident of the 600 police officer’s murder at that stage.
He said that he did not discuss the matters except with a few including JVP MP Anura Kumara Dissanayake and Sritharan among them.
He added that he was not in deal politics but some of those in the SLFP who were in that trade were once welcome to the UNP and now they were in SJB.
