Several of my dear friends from church have gone up as a “Ladies Night Out” to Orlando to see the Women of Faith Conferences. Unfortunately, every single time it turns out that I was not available for any of these outings in the past, so when I learned that there’s a movie, Women of Faith: An Amazing Joyful Journey, I was very excited and knew I would be heading to the theater to enjoy this film!
In case you don’t know about the Women of Faith women’s non-denominational Christian conferences, I’ll share just a bit of what I know from hearing about it from my friends. It’s a weekend event for women only that showcases some truly amazing Christian women who have touched our lives over the years. These women share their stories, their hopes, their lives with others. They discuss topics such as God’s Extravagant Grace and God’s Boundless Love and guide women on how to Celebrate What Matters and how to have Contagious Joy. The conference also includes some really incredible contemporary Christian musical artists like Sandi Patty, Point of Grace, Nichole Nordeman, Building 429, and so many others that I can’t begin to complete the list. Several of my friends and their friends have confirmed that these conferences are incredible. I’ve heard that women learn so much about loving themselves, changing their lives and loving and building up their Christian sisters in Christ, that their lives have been forever changed in one Women of Faith Conference!
The conferences started back in 1996 and have only grown bigger and bigger each year. They started off touring the event in 10 cities, and it has now exploded to sometimes 29 events in a year! Christian talk show host Stephen Arterburn launched the first Women of Faith conference in 1996, and the tour was called A Joyful Journey that year, specifically designed to encourage women. Each of the 10 cities on the tour was sold out. They have hosted Women of Faith conferences, cruises and simulcasts both in the United States and Canada!
So there’s the history of the Women of Faith conferences. Let me tell you now about the movie, Women of Faith: An Amazing Joyful Journey:
The cinema event will take viewers on a journey of Women of Faith through the last nearly 20 years, on stage and off, on their travels with World Vision, their impact on audiences, in short, the way they’ve changed the world. Partly historical – and frequently hysterical – this unique cinematic experience will be packed with some of the most popular pieces from the beloved speaking team to include Anna Trent, Thelma Wells, Mary Graham, Luci Swindoll, Sheila Walsh, Jen Hatmaker, Sandi Patty, Patsy Clairmont, Nicole Johnson and Marilyn Meberg as well as music and performances from Christian contemporary artists that appeared on the tour. Featuring never-before-seen interviews, outtakes, and behind the scenes footage, this event presentation will bring back memories for all those who have attended a Women of Faith weekend as well as create new memories for those experiencing it for the first time.
The movie is being shown in select cinemas as a limited engagement – February 18, February 20, March 3 and March 5, 2016 only.
