Movie of the Day – The Advenutres of Milo and Otis

I hope you all are ready for some more animal cuteness cause it’s time for Milo and Otis.  Yes the movie with a pug nosed puppy and his curious cat friend.  I don’t have anything to say about the movie since in all honestly my brain will slowly devolve into mush as I watch the two lead frolic and play with one another as they are on the adventure of a lifetime.

Prepare for an overdose of cuteness!

Milo is a kitten, Otis is a dog. When Milo gets into a small box with the intention of taking a trip down a river, Otis follows. En route, the stars encounter bad weather, life-threatening situations, and even potential mates. Original made for Japanese TV under the title Koneko Monogatari, The Adventures of Milo and Otis contained some intense scenes that were edited out for Western audiences. For American consumption, the film was pared down to a G-rated 75 minutes, with a new comic narration added, written by Mark Saltzman and delivered by Dudley Moore. ~ Hal Erickson, Rovi

So one thing about this movie bothers me and that is the rampant, almost close to animal cruelty that happens in the movie.  Milo and Otis are in peril sometimes, like one hawk swooping down and picking them up sort of danger.  Milo even travels down a river in a fucking box, going over a waterfall of sorts.  What the hell man?  I thought we were watching some cute animals just playing around, not watching them in peril.  I guess since this was originally some sort of Japanese show, they are a little more cavalier with their animal stars.

Aside from that little worry nugget…ZOMG THEY R SOOOOOO ADORBZ!!!!!

Who the hell doesn’t like watching a kitten and pug puppy getting into some form of an adventure, hitching rides on the backs of turtles and generally being all sort of fucking adorable.  God this counted for a movie back then.  It is basically the equivalent of taking all those youtube clips of kittens riding roombas and corgi’s sleeping, then stringing them together into one movie.  It would sweep the Oscars I swear.  All those stodgy old men will have to vote for it or else they have no soul.

Anyways,  PUPPIES AND KITTENS!!!!!
