Shia killings are usually attributed to sectarian violence but people from all walks of life and beliefs showed solidarity with Hazaras and staged sit-ins across whole country. At the time of January 10 blast Provincial Government was nowhere in sight. Chief Minister Aslam Raisani was neither in country nor in contact with anyone. Provincial Minister Nadir Magsi was busy in desert Jeep rally and he could not spare time to visit mourning families.
After nearly 72 hours of peaceful protest by mourning Hazara families Federal Government woke up from deep slumber and Prime Minister Raja Pervez Ashraf reached Quetta along with his comrades. Instead of going straight to the victims he spent nearly 12 hours in comfortable environment of Governor House. After day long consultations he turned up to protestors at 2:00AM to inform them about acceptance of their demand about sacking of provincial Government and imposition of Governor’s rule. He didn’t accept the demand of handing over city to Pakistan Army. Giving respect to Prime Minister Protestors ended their sit in and buried the martyrs.
However, reservations and concerns of Hazara community once again proved true when they had to face another carnage on Saturday. Security establishment and intelligence agencies miserably failed to round up terrorists and provide shield to highly vulnerable Hazaras. Once again Hazara carnage went unnoticed at Federal level and no Federal representative even bothered to visit the mourning families. Once again, mourning Hazara families has refused to bury their martyrs.
