Motorola revived its iconic Razr flip phone last year. The company is reportedly now working to bring out an updated sequel in North America as early as September this year.
On Wednesday, Motorola teased a virtual event scheduled for September 9th, dubbed "Preparing to Flip the Smartphone Experience Again," according to a Droid Life report cited by multiple publications. The Chicago-based company didn't release any further details, but a few months ago Lenibo's South African general manager Thibault Dousson revealed on a tech podcast that the next iteration of Motorola has been revived Razr Flip Phone was imminent.

"There's a new iteration [of the Razr ] comes on. I think there is one in September, "he said shortly after the 18-minute mark.
The "Razr 2" (unofficial name) is said to be equipped with the Snapdragon 765 processor from Qualcomm, which is 5G-capable, along with a larger battery with 2,845 mAh compared to the battery with 2,510 mAh in the phone, according to a report from May 2019 XDA developers cite a source. It will also have 8GB of RAM and 256GB of storage, a 48-megapixel rear camera, and out-of-the-box Android 10 support.

Motorola could not be reached for comment.
When the Razr went on sale in the US in early February 2019, it was the first of a new generation of vertically foldable smartphones to hit the market. The technical data includes the Snapdragon 710 chipset, a 16-megapixel rear-view camera and 6 GB of RAM and 128 GB of internal storage. Though praised for its inventive hinge mechanism and technical marvel, the phone has been widely criticized for lacking high-end specs, given its $ 1,500 price tag. In addition, concerns have been raised about the phone's durability.
