Morgan Freeman’s Lawyer Demands CNN Retract Sexual Harassment Story

Morgan Freeman’s attorney, Robert M. Schwartz has sent a letter to CNN demanding that they retract the sexual harassment story about his client.

The Hollywood Reporter obtained the letter that was sent to the president of the network, describing the harassment story as “journalistic malpractice” that included “falsehoods” and “malicious intent.”

The letter also calls for CNN to issue a public apology to Freeman, who has lost work — including his role as the voice of Visa — as a result of the allegations.

“At a minimum, CNN immediately needs to issue a retraction and apologize to Mr. Freeman through the same channels, and with the same level of attention, that it used to unjustly attack him on May 24,” reads the letter. “CNN also needs to retract the portions of the story that concern Lori McCreary and apologize to her for defaming and injuring her.”

CNN has since responded to the letter in a statement standing by their story.

“The unfounded accusations made by Mr. Freeman’s lawyer are disappointing and are difficult to reconcile with Mr. Freeman’s own public statements in the aftermath of the story. CNN stands by its reporting and will respond forcefully to any attempt by Mr. Freeman or his representatives to intimidate us from covering this important public issue.”

On May 24th CNN posted a story alleging that 8 women accused the legendary actor of sexual misconduct.
