I continued my plan for this new abstract painting, drawing lines in shades of blue, cobalt green, aqua and lime, then filling in the shapes I created with the lines. By using a small brush and dipping it in a bit of water, I was able to blend the paint for a translucent effect.
After I finished, I felt the "bottom to top" approach in grading the colors conflicted with the "inner to outer" approach I'd used on the background. So I lightened up each color in the top center by adding a lighter color to it. I also added darker colors to the outer edges. The effect is subtle, but I think it helps.
