Now, in this year marking the 40th anniversary of the court decision, two more polls have come out showing a majority of the population does not want the Roe v. Wade decision overturned. The Gallup Poll showed 53% still supporting the decision, while the NBC/Wall Street Journal Poll showed a whopping 70% supported the decision. Whether it's 53%, 63%, or 70%, it is clear that a majority of Americans do not want the decision overturned.
And it is equally clear, as the chart above shows, that only a tiny portion of the public (less than 30%) in all three polls expressed any desire to see the court decision overturned. In the last 40 years, the anti-choice crowd has done everything they could to change the minds of the American people -- and they have had no success at all.
