moong dal makhani
makhani recipe using green gram
Ingredients
- green gram/moong dal/pasi payaru - 1 cup soaked overnight
- Tomato puree - 1 cup
- red chilli powder - 1/4 teaspoon
- ginger garlic paste - 1 teaspoon
- turmeric powder - 1/4 teaspoon
- cumin powder - 1 teaspoon
- garam masala - 1/4 teaspoon
- kasuri methi - 1 teaspoon
- butter - 2 teaspoon
- fresh cream- 1 tablespoon
- salt - to taste
- cumin seeds - 1 teaspoon
- pressure cook the soaked moong dal with enough water for upto 3 whistles.Drain the water and set aside.
- Heat butter in the kadai,add cumin seeds to it once it starts melting.Then add the ginger garlic paste and saute it till the raw smell leaves.
- Now add the tomato puree and cook for 2 minutes.
- Now add turmeric powder,red chilli powder,cumin powder,garam masala and add little water to it.
- Mix it well and add salt in this stage along with cooked moong dal and give a quick mix.Add water if required.cook it for another 5 minutes.
- Now add the fresh cream and flame should be low while adding the cream here.mix it well and cover with lid and cook it again for another 2 minutes.
- finally add crushed kasuri methi then switch off the flame.
- Garnish with finely chopped coriander leaves and serve.
