Montevideo to Buenos Aires

Plaza Independencia, Montevideo, Uruguay

After being in the south of Argentina, it was a big change to be in a big city.  A short walk from downtown Montevideo at the port, you will find Mercado del Puerto.  There are lots of meat restaurants here, and it is here I had the best steak I have ever had.  I recommend lunch or dinner here (or both!) if you visit Montevideo.
If I was to go to Montevideo again I would take a trip to Colonia del Sacramento, there are regular buses from Montevideo which take 2 hours 40 minutes.  Also from both Colonia and Montevideo there are regular ferry services to Buenos Aires which take about 3 hours.  For my trip to Buenos Aires I was on the last leg of my Celebrity Cruise so no need for the ferry service!
