Here are a few activities we have been doing with Derin lately:
Knobbed Cylinders
I have got a smaller version of the Knobbed Cylinders. We have got four blocks, and five cylinders in each one. Block 1: The cylinders increase in diameter and height.
Block 2: The cylinders increase in diameter. The height remains the same.
Block 3: The cylinders increase in diameter and decrease in height.
Block 4: The cylinders decrease in height and diameter remains the same.
Up until now I used to give only one block to Derin, but his attention span has increased lately. So I took out the others as well. He is a very active little boy who literally cannot sit still. I am amazed to see how interested he is with this sort of activities.
Knobbed cylinders develop visual perception of depth and dimension. They also help with fine motor skills and getting those little fingers ready for writing later ;)
Transferring pompoms
He loved transferring the pompoms from a bowl to an egg box. Great for fine motor skills!Transferring marbles
Transferring marbles from bowl to bowl. Please note that I observed him closely during this. He is past the mouthing stage now, but with toddlers you can never be sure!Happily shared with One Hook Wonder's Montessori Monday.
