Ontario is getting another music festival! The Monster Energy Center of Gravity Festival [MECOG} has been running successfully on the shores of Okanagan Lake and Kelowna’s City Park for eight years and this year’s West Coast lineup is pretty spectacular.
What makes this festival different? This festival will be held on the beach, Wasaga Beach. It combines music with extreme sports, and with Monster Energy as a sponsor that shouldn’t be too big a surprise. And, MECOG combines a mix of high-energy electronic, urban, and other live music on multiple stages.
Center of Gravity offers multiple zones including The Moto Zone, The Water Zone and The Urban Zone.
The Water Zone offers a mix of pro and semi-pro wakeboarders and wakeskaters from all over North America. They’ll be using a 2.0 portable cable system stretched over a massive pool built right on Wasaga Beach, spectators can take in the action from only feet away. Right on the beach people!
The Urban Zone will feature the best BMX Riders and Skateboarders from Ontario. The course offers rails, quarter pipes, boxes, and a 30’ half pipe, not for the faint of heart. This zone is guaranteed to get your blood pumping. Expect to see some crazy stuff!
In addition to The Zones, there will be beach volleyball, beach dodgeball, and Coors Light is hosting the Game Zone which lets everyone get involved. With a 30 foot 2 person water slide, Volley Pong, Ladder Toss, Cornhole, Giant Jenga, Arcade Basketball, Ping Pong, and a custom Pentathlon Wall, it’s going to be amazing!
This year’s West Coast lineup includes eight-time Grammy Award winner Skrillex, Dutch DJ-producer Afrojack, and hip-hop legend Ice Cube. Past acts include Diplo, Zeds Dead, Flo Rida, Yukon Blonde, Calvin Harris, Tegan and Sara, Robert Delong, Tiësto, Tommy Lee & DJ Aero w/ Sofi and the list goes on and on.
The Monster Energy Center of Gravity Festival hits the beach August 19, 20 and 21, 2016.
