Today I played up as a Maria Clara but a really modern one. I’d like to mention that every filipina today has a little bit of Maria Clara within. They all have different poise but still want that same respect.
I consider myself as a modern Filipina because I still do parts of the tradition and values but I’m a bit sophisticated as to I’m living in a metropolitan city. I work and earn my own living without asking for help from my parents. A modern Filipina also knows how to decide things right from wrong without having to consult their elders, and know how to take in consequences of every choice.
Being modern has nothing to do with being wild or how you dress but rather on how you think and take things a different way. So are you a modern Filipina?
