Among the many aircraft in the Gifu-Kakamigahara Air and Space Museum collection is this sleek Mitsubishi T-2 trainer. Modified from the third T-2 trainer, this T-2 served as a testbed for Control Configuration Vehicle (CCV) studies involving a digital fly-by-wire system and use of canards. First flown in 1971, this two-seat jet trainer was operated by the Japan Air Self Defense Force from 1975 – 2006. Avgeeks might notice some design similarities of the T-2 with the SEPECAT Jaguar, both aircraft are powered by the same engines.
