Miranda Lambert Hits Toronto..

So, Miranda Lambert’s Platinum tour hit Toronto this week and Miranda spent a few extra days in the GTA after playing a show in Upstate NY on Sunday night.   The first stop was Boots & Bourbon Saloon in downtown Toronto on Queen St. on Tuesday Night.    This wasn’t a “Miranda” show it was a Permnent Damage show.  Now, Permnent Damage is actually Miranda’s Band and Crew that play gigs for the hell of it.  They rotate instruments and singing duties and the music is from a wide spectrum.  Miranda made an appearance along with Canadian country star Carolyn Dawn Johnson who is currently playing with Miranda on the Platinum Tour.   The evening was diverse in music from some classic country to some B-52’s “Love Shack” and of course one of the more covered songs Guns & Roses “Sweet Child of Mine”.  With a crowd of about 150 at its peak in attendance it was definitely a night that the bar and patrons will not soon forget.

Fast forward to Thursday night at the Molson Amphitheater and 17,000+ people.   The young lady from Lindale, Texas had the crowd rocking!   Now she brought a couple of her Southern friends along for the ride with Thomas Rhett & Justin Moore both of which were fantastic.  I personally am a HUGE Thomas Rhett Fan and he did not disappoint on the big stage.   He spent a good 40 min playing his hits and interacting with the crowd slapping hands and just having a blast up there.    Thomas is a very talented young man that has a stock sky rocketing with both his song writing and singing abilities.  I am sure we will see him on a headlining tour of Canada in the coming months.

Next to hit the stage was Justin Moore.   Now this guy packs a punch, it was my first time seeing Justin and was a huge surprise.  I have seen a ton of performers already this year but only one other comes to mind that has that same true passion and fan interaction and that would be Canada’s own Brett Kissel.   When Justin dropped to his knee’s and said “WOW” to the standing ovation he was receiving and then commenting that when he leaves his 3 little girls each week to hit the road it was moment’s like that, that make it all worth it.  Justin cranked out about 10 songs and have to say my favorites would have been “Small Town Throwdown” performed with Thomas Rhett along with “Home Sweet Home”.  “Home” is actually a cover song from Motley Crew in which  Justin performs the song on Nashville Outlaws a tribute album of some of the best Crue songs sung by today’s hottest country acts.    Justin we can’t wait to have you back in Toronto.  Both Justin & Thomas are signed to the Big Machine Label and are well supported here in Canada with Big Machine Label Canada being distributed by Universal Music Canada.    Don’t forget to check out both Thomas & Justin’s latest albums now available online (Links below)

After Justin was over the Jukebox Mafia hit the stage.  This 4 piece  band from Nashville had been personally asked by Miranda to join her Platinum tour.. The fellas only played for 20 min but it was a high tempo, foot to floor & beer to the sky type set filled with the latest pop songs with a hillbilly twist.

Finally it was time.  Miranda hit the stage and the place erupted.  This girl knows how to throw a party kicking things off her latest Video “Somethin’ Bad”  a duet with Carrie Underwood.   After the video was complete we had a countdown on screen and she kicked it off with “Fastest Girl In Town”  and well to be honest it didn’t slow down for a good 5 or 6 songs when she sang “Over You”.  Now I have seen Miranda a couple times. One being Wrigley Field in Chicago a couple years back and the 2nd being Boots & Hearts last year.    But felt this was my favorite show.  With so many great songs on Platinum its hard to keep her set to 1hr 30 min but as the show wrapped up she closed out with a little ZZ Top and “Gimme All Your Lovin'” which had everyone on their feet.
