It's hard to miss the distinctive Minnesota History Center perched at the intersection of I-94 and I-35E... between the domes of the State Capitol and the St. Paul Cathedral. Built in 1992, it was the first of three museums to relocate to new buildings in downtown St. Paul in the 1990s.
It's worth a visit to the History Center for the architecture and beautiful views alone... but it is also an outstanding interactive museum with both permanent and changing exhibits, and special events including concerts, lectures and family days.
The Minnesota Children's Museum, designed to spark learning through play for kids age 6 months to 10 years, was the next to build a new museum in downtown St. Paul... in 1995.
In 1999, the world reknown Science Museum of Minnesota moved to its new home on the bluffs overlooking the Mississippi River.
St. Paul is not only the home of the state capitol... it is also the home of major state museums for people of all ages.
