Minecraft Cake

By Tejal Hewitt @Tejal_x

My son asked for a Minecraft cake this year for his 10th birthday, now I know it’s not my best cake, but I actually thought this would be a rather easy cake – but that was far from the truth!

Minecraft – well to me it seems like digital Lego! My kids are so involved in Minecraft!

A Lesson to learn is make sure the cake is square! Trim the sides to create a proper rectangle to help the base fondant tiles stick.

Ingredients
10oz Margarine
10oz Caster Sugar
5 Eggs
10oz Self Raising Flour
2oz Cocoa
1 Tsp Vanilla
2 Tsp Baking Powder

Using the all in one method add all the ingredients into a mixing bowl and mix on medium to high-speed for 2 minutes

Pour into 2 cake tins

Bake in the oven at 170c for 30-40 minutes until cake is fully baked, then allow to cool

Add 100g butter, 40g cocoa and icing sugar to a mixing with a teaspoon of vanilla and tablespoon of milk.

Mix well, keep adding icing sugar until soft peaks form.

Add one of the cakes to a cake board

Level the cake by trimming the top off to make it even.

Add butter cream in the middle, add second cake over the top and butter cream all over

Colour the fondant and cut into squares for the minecraft theme.

Mold the fondant into the creeper and person.

Create the TNT and little extras.

Cut out the name in gray fondant.
