MindMeld Computing Truths

By Expectlabs @ExpectLabs

Forrester’s JP Gownder recently sat down with our CEO to talk aboutMindMeld, and how our work in speech analysis, language understanding, and statistical search is powering the next generation of intelligent assistants.

Below are a few “computing truths" that Gownder identified, based on our company’s work in Anticipatory Computing and voice recognition:

  • Innovative software experiences come to tablets first. Our decision to first develop MindMeld for the iPad was because the device acts as a playground for innovative user experiences; the iPad has more screen real estate and the touchscreen lends itself more to collaboration.
  • In the next five years, voice recognition will be good enough to hold its own as a user interface. The technical barriers that disrupt the performance of voice recognition programs will soon be obsolete. In fact, many technical issues have even been resolved in the past eighteen months.
  • Computing is evolving way beyond keyboards. Our CEO sums it up when he says; “in a world where keyboards aren’t tightly coupled with computing, easier interaction methods are required.” It is now unnecessary to think about keyboards when developing apps.
