Milosh – Do You Want What I Need (Clark Remix)

Chris Clark impressed me earlier this month with his sixth album under the Clark alias (he has two more under his full name – all eight released via legendary Warp Records). Not only is Clark my favorite full-length from the English electronic producer thus far, but one of the best electronic music albums I’ve heard all year (possibly only rivaled by Todd Terje, Caribou and Gidge).

Here, he takes on “Do You Want What I Need” from Canadian producer Michael Milosh – for many more known as one half of trip hop / R&B duo Rhye – and recasts it in disordered, dystopian ambiance. I’m not a fan of Milosh’ original; it basically sounds like a Rhye’s track stripped of heart, soul and any obvious signs of greatness, which makes it all the more impressive that Clark found the few working strains of DNA and shaped them into magic.
