Do you like malted milk like Milo, Ovaltine and Horlicks?
Yes!!! I'm a big fan of Milo and Horlicks and adore their sweet smelling and sticky malty taste.
Do you have malted milk like Milo, Ovaltine and Horlicks everyday?
Errrr... Not really!!!???
My son and I like malted drinks but we don't consume them everyday. We usually consume these drinks depending on our moods and seasons as we prefer these drinks in the form of ice blended drinks during summer. Regardless of all seasons, I love to use malted milk for my baking and really like these malted milk bakes ( Milo cupcakes, Milo Crumbs Chocolate Cake, Sticky Milo Cake and Horlicks Chocolate Chip Cookies) that I have baked. All are sticky, malty and pretty unforgettable!
Are Milo, Ovaltine and Horlicks the same? Kind of. My answer is both yes and no...
Obviously, Milo and Ovaltine contains cocoa and Horlicks does not. No because marketing strategy wise, they appear to be very different... Milo looks kind of energetic and sporty! Ovaltine appears to a British old time favourite or the relaxing café drink. For Horlicks, it claims that it can give you a good night sleep... Zzzzz So, apparently they are not the same!!!
Despite all the differences, I can see a common thing in them and it is that they are all malted drinks and can be substituted with each other in most baking recipes.
Thanks to Hummingbird High! Now, I know that I can bake these Milo chocolate chip cookies using the same recipe that I baked Horlicks chocolate chip cookies and this recipe originates from Pioneer Woman and can be found in Food Network too.
Like the Horlicks one that I have baked before, these freshly baked Milo cookies are crispy on their outside and chewy on their inside. When the cookies are completely cooled, they become more chewy with milky Milo taste. I have baked these cookies with Callebaut dark chocolate callets plus with and without white chocolate chips and my son said the ones with both are the best!
